D-backs Starting Lineup: Corbin on the Hill, Lamb Sits, Rosales at Third
Sure, the second half of the season has been tough for the Diamondbacks. Their win last night couldn’t have come at a better time, although it was a bit more difficult than you’d prefer against the hapless Mets. That win could be the start of a turnaround for this club, you never know. That is the beauty of baseball; you just never know.
With that in mind, Patrick Corbin will take the ball for the D-backs tonight against those same Mets. For Corbin, he hadn’t been great on the road this year, that was until he completely dominated the Astros in Houston last week throwing 8 2/3 innings of four-hit shutout ball. So, keeping with the theme, you just never know. Of course, Corbin has been solid at Chase Field and for the year his ERA is a recovering 4.25. That, we do know.
Nothing too surprising about tonight’s lineup. David Peralta is leading off, followed by Chris Iannetta, A.J. Pollock batting third in place of Jake Lamb, who has the day off. Paul Goldschmidt is batting cleanup followed by J.D. Martinez, Brandon Drury at second base, Ketel Marte and Adam Rosales batting eighth and playing third base.
Drury is having a pretty good season, slashing .274/.326/.450 for the year, but that includes a not-so-inspiring second half where he’s slashed .230/.288/.405. He went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run in his last start on Sunday against the Twins, so hopefully he’s rediscovered his mojo.
