D-backs Starting Lineup: McFarland on Hill Backed By the Regular Cast

There’s no real surprises in today’s lineup and that’s a good thing because the Diamondbacks are struggling. They’re 14-20 (.412) in the second half of the season and that compares inversely to their first half record of 53-36 (.596). Keeping things steady and predictable around this team may be the best move in hopes of stabilizing things.

With Anthony Banda getting sent back down to Triple-A, that opened up a spot in the starting rotation that will be filled today by the bullpen. T.J. McFarland will take the mound for the D-backs today and, while a bullpen start is usually more like closing your eyes and praying for the best, there is hope today. That’s due mainly to the fact the the opposing pitcher is Bartolo Colon, who is riding a 6.70 ERA.
