Diamondbacks Starting Lineup: Walker on the Hill, D-backs Looking to Change Momentum
There’s been a strong tide around this team lately and no one can tell when it’s going to ebb or flow. In all honesty, the waters just need to calm a bit so they can tread some water. The good news is they still hold a five game lead in the Wild Card race and that’s plenty of cushion…for now.
Taijuan Walker will take the hill in the hopes of riding the tide and shutting down the Houston Astros. In Phoenix we saw two different sides of this Astros team. One that was utterly dominated by the D-backs ace pitcher, Zack Greinke, and another that showed what the top offense in the league can do against an inexperienced pitcher. Walker is neither of those but he has been very good this season.
He’ll be supported by Gregor Blanco, who’s playing left field and batting leadoff. He’s followed by the standard crew of A.J. Pollock, Jake Lamb, Paul Goldschmidt and J.D. Martinez. Goldschmidt is batting as the Designated hitter.
Daniel Descalso is playing first base and batting sixth in the order. Chris Iannetta is batting seventh, followed by Ketel Marte and Brandon Drury. Marte is riding a streak of 15 games in which he’s reached base safely.
