D-backs Starting Lineup & Game Preview: Godley on Hill as Snakes Go For Series Win

The last time the Diamondbacks won a series it was against the Chicago Cubs. They’ll be going for their second series win in August, one that could go a long way towards pushing them into the Wild Card game.

Zack Godley (5-4, 2.94 ERA) looks to build on his great season with another win today. The D-backs have won their last four games when Godley has been on the hill. That includes a game he pitched against the Cubs in Wrigley, allowing no runs on three hits, earlier this month.

Left-handed batters are hitting 49 points higher against Cubs starter, Jake Arrieta. The D-backs roll out five lefties today including David Peralta, batting leadoff, Jake Lamb, slotting in third, Daniel Descalso, batting fifth, Ketel Marte, who’s riding a 12-game on-base streak, and Gregor Blanco, batting eighth.

Of that group of lefties, Peralta and Lamb are both leading the way, batting .333 against Arrieta over their careers. Paul Goldschmidt, who’s batting cleanup, is hitting .267 against Arrieta.
