D-backs Starting Lineup & Game Preview: Corbin Pitching, Lamb Sits, Rosales at Third Base
Patrick Corbin will take the mound this evening for the Diamondbacks and he’s hoping this game goes better than his last game against the Cubs. In Chicago a week and a half ago, Corbin got lit up for eight runs and ten hits in just three innings. That was the only game the D-backs lost in their three-game series.
Corbin didn’t fare much better in his following outing — his most recent — against the Giants in San Francisco. He lasted six innings but got hit around for six runs on seven hits. Of course, Corbin has been a vastly different pitcher at home than he has on the road. His home ERA is a respectable 3.14, compared to his road ERA of 6.79. A big contributor for his road woes is his HR/9 of 2.53 verses .75 HR/9 at Chase Field.
Jon Lester will take the hill for the Cubs. He’s been solid all year but his numbers have gotten even better in the second half. Left-handed batters hit poorly off Lester with a .180/.214/.261 slash-line. That explains why there’s only on left-handed hitter in the lineup for the D-backs, David Peralta batting leadoff.
