D-backs Starting Lineup: Snakes Go For Series Win Behind Taijuan Walker, Pollock & Mathis Sit
The Arizona Diamondbacks can start off this critical road trip with a series win if they can beat the Cardinals today in St. Louis. Taijuan Walker has been excellent this year for the D-backs, and in particular over his last two starts. Both starts ended with a D-backs loss though due to bullpen implosions.
The Snakes bullpen has been solid as ever during this series, allowing only one run on nine hits over 10 1/3 innings pitched. If the bullpen keeps playing like that for the D-backs, along with continued productivity from the rotation, the Diamondbacks could pull together a nice winning streak during this tough stretch in their schedule.
It’s a familiar lineup today for the D-backs at the top of the order, with the exception of A.J. Pollock who’s getting some rest and will give Torey Lovullo some pop off the bench.
Leading off for the D-backs is David Peralta. Chris Owings will slot into the second spot in the order in lieu of Pollock. Following the muscle of Jake Lamb, Paul Goldschmidt and J.D. Martinez, is Ketel Marte at shortstop, Chris Iannetta catching and batting seventh, followed by Henry Blanco who’s batting eighth and playing center field in Pollock’s stead.
