Postgame Recap (7/26/17) – D-backs 10, Braves 3: Martinez Hits Two Homers, D-backs Win Series

It was a power display at Chase Field today.

If you were wondering how J.D. Martinez would bounce back after sustaining an injury to his hand in his first game for the Diamondbacks, well wonder no more. He blasted not one (video here), but two home runs (video here) today against the Braves and drove in four of the D-backs’ ten runs. It was a good old-fashioned blowout.

As impressive as Martinez was today, the rookie Ketel Marte had quite a nice day himself. In the bottom of the 3rd inning he popped a two-run, inside-the-park home run and he did it standing up. It’s worth a look so click here to check it out. Marte also had a double in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Patrick Corbin had plenty of run support and pitched a decent game today. He got into trouble early in the first inning, giving up a run on a single, a double and a walk, but managed to get out of the inning with no further damage. He lost control again in the top of the 4th inning, walking two, hitting a batter and allowing a single. He escaped that inning by giving up one run and left the bases loaded.

Once Corbin left the game, the bullpen had no troubles holding the lead.
