D-backs Starting Lineup: Looking for Series Win with Corbin on the Hill

Patrick Corbin has pitched well in the second half of the season so far, with a 2.19 ERA over two games. He’ll be looking to continue that trend today as he tosses the biscuit for the Diamondbacks against the Braves in the series finale at Chase Field.

Torey Lovullo is sticking with the same batters, two through five in the order, for the third straight game. With red-hot A.J. Pollock batting second, followed by Jake Lamb, Paul Goldschmidt and J.D. Martinez. I love seeing Jeff Mathis back in there today, he’s riding a streak in which he’s hit safely in 12-of-14 games and is slashing .412/.500/.471 in the second half of the season.

A key to this game may be the D-backs bullpen. They haven’t had a great second half of the season so far. Consider that in the first half the ‘pen had a 3.45 ERA and .98 HR/9 and compare that to their second half stats – 4.83 ERA with 1.71 HR/9. They’ll have to be better soon for the D-backs to be able to maintain their lead in the Wild Card race.

Here’s the rest of today’s Diamondbacks lineup as they look to take the series from the Braves:
