D-backs Starting Lineup: J.D. Martinez Batting Fifth, Ahead of Pollock, Lamb and Goldschmidt
Now this is the lineup we've been waiting to see.
When the Diamondbacks completed the trade for J.D. Martinez, D-backs Nation was understandably pumped. The air quickly left the room when Martinez got hit by a pitch and left with an injured hand in his first game. After a pinch-hit appearance against the Nationals on Sunday, Martinez is officially back and starting in right field, batting fifth in the order.
Preceding him for the D-backs is David Peralta batting first, A.J. Pollock hitting second, Jake Lamb third and Paul Goldschmidt batting cleanup. This, my frents, is a potent lineup.
Oh, and let’s not forget that Zack Greinke is on the hill for the D-backs today. Greinke’s last outing was fairly pedestrian, if not downright disappointing. Well, disappointing by his high standards, I should say. He allowed three runs on eight hits over five innings, while throwing 104 pitches to get it done. There’s no reason not to expect Greinke to be much better tonight.
Knuckeballer R.A. Dickey is on the mound tonight for the Braves. Paul Goldschmidt is batting .375 for his career against Dickey, while Martinez is hitting .357 over 15 plate appearances.
