Watch: Anthony Banda Talks About His Debut Performance, Shares Thoughts on Harper Homer

Anthony showed the poise of a veteran in his major-league debut

You never know what to expect when a player makes their debut appearance. Anthony Banda projected the poise and confidence of a veteran pitcher on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 39,176 fans. It took him 82 pitches to get through 5 2/3 innings, while giving up seven hits and four runs. It was the heart of the Nationals order — filled with All-Star players — that eventually got to him, but not before an impressive outing.

During the interview, when asked about his thoughts on being sent back down to Triple-A and possibly making a return to the big-league team, Banda said, “I wanna prove that I can help us win and, at the end of the day, I’m going to compete my butt off.” Gotta love his approach.
